Multimedia competition “How I recognize Europe in Serbia”

PRESS RELEASE

Belgrade, 31 March 2011

Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Serbia via EU Info Centre and in cooperation with Serbian public broadcasting corporation RTS launches a multimedia competition entitled “How I recognize Europe in Serbia”. The competition will be followed by RTS’s Morning Programme (Jutarnji program) which will broadcast submitted works on a daily basis.

The competition is open from 1 April to 1 May 2011. The participants can use their photo camera, video camera or mobile phone to capture everyday scenes which remind them of the values shared by the EU Member States, such as freedom of movement, human rights, freedom of thought, democracy, environmental protection and care about the quality of food and water. There are many such examples around us: a well-kept garden, a moment capturing the care for minority groups, an example of tolerance for differences in everyday life. With this competition, the EU Delegation wishes to promote these values and motivate Serbian citizens to find them in their neighbourhood.

All Serbian citizens above 14 are eligible to participate in the competition. The photos and video materials must not be offensive on racial, religious or other grounds, and must respect the boundaries of good taste.

The first prize is a trip to an EU capital for two persons, the second prize is a video camera and the third prize is a photo camera.

The photos or video projects are to be sent by e mail to prepoznajevropu@rts.rs, and each photo or video project must be accompanied by a completed application form which can be downloaded at http://www.europa.rs/projects/prepoznaj_evropu.html

Photos and video projects can be in any language used in Serbia. However, the registration information must be completed in Serbian.

The jury will be comprised of three persons: 1 representative of DEU, 1 representative of RTS and 1 representative of EU Information Centre. The best works will be exhibited in the new premises of EU Info Centre during the Europe Week.
