This cycle offered the largest number of valuable prizes for the competitors in comparison with previous cycles: mobile phones, ipods, books, language courses, clothes vouchers, EU branded promo material and prize trips. Prize trips were offered to all 8 teams that participated in the two semi-finals and the final: trips for the 3 team members and their teacher/mentor to 7 EU Member States countries - Sweden, Portugal, Spain, Hungary, Greece, Czech Republic, Slovenia – were kindly offered by each respective embassy, and a trip to Belgium was offered traditionally by the Delegation of the European Commission in Serbia. All trips took place during May and June 2009.
The quiz 60 minute shows were pre-recorded in February and March 2009 in the largest RTS Studio VIII studio in Košutnjak and broadcast from 28 February 2009 until 26 June 2009, every Saturday at 12:30 on RTS channel 1 in the form of 15 episodes. Two re-runs were offered during the week, on Tuesdays at 18:30h and Fridays at 09:00h, on RTS channel 2. Two prime episodes on Saturdays – shows 16 and 17 - were also broadcast on 13 and 20 June showing 5 of the above mentioned trips: what the teams visited, whom they met and their impressions. We wish to thank the EU Ambassadors and diplomats from 18 EU Member States embassies in Belgrade who once again fully supported this activity and whose live participation and valuable prizes play a major role in the success and popularity of the Quiz.
We also wish to thank the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Serbia in supporting the Quiz year after year and including it in the list of official high-school competitions.
