HELLO EUROPE 2004/2005

The Delegation of the European Commission to Serbia and Montenegro, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Sports of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Montenegro, organised the third cycle of competitions for secondary and high schools in Serbia and Montenegro –“Hello Europe Quiz” for the school year 2004/2005. The project producer was the RTV Serbia (RTS) Educational and Scientific Programme School Desk.

As in the previous years, the quiz was generally intended as an instructive and entertaining presentation of the knowledge of high-school youth about the EU and its Member States, encouraging them to learn more about the regional similarities of European integration processes.

All high schools in Serbia and Montenegro received an invitation letter to participate in the quiz in February 2005, and the total of 148 schools applied. The first round of the so-called initial testing (written) took place simultaneously in Serbia (the amphitheatre of the Faculty of Law, Belgrade, for students of high schools in Serbia) and in Montenegro (amphitheatre of “Ivan Uskokovic” technical school for high school youth in Montenegro) on 27 March 2005, at 1 p.m. A Commission comprising of the representatives of the Delegation of the EC, both ministries and the RTS School Desk met in the Delegation’s premises to review all 148 tests, and pass 24 schools (teams) into the official competition round.

The quiz shows was broadcast from mid October to end of December 2005 on the second channel of Radio Television Serbia (RTS) and first channel of Radio Television Montenegro (RTV CG) in the form of 10 episodes.

We owe special gratitude for the awards and the participation of Ambassadors and diplomats from EU Member States embassies whose contribution has been invaluable.
