The European Union Baroque Orchestra will perform in Belgrade

The European Union Baroque Orchestra (EUBO) will perform in Kolarac concert hall in Belgrade on the 16th of July, Friday and with its performance will open the Belgrade Summer Festival (BELEF). This is the first time that the orchestra composed of young musicians from 12 countries will come to Serbia, being the 35th European country they perform in since the foundation of the Orchestra 25 years ago. The EUBO is a Cultural Ambassador for the EU, enjoying the founding of the European Commission’s Culture Programme.

Head of EU Delegation visiting EU projects in South of Serbia

Head of the European Union Delegation to the Republic of Serbia Ambassador Vincent DEGERT will on 8 July 2010 visit Leskovac and Medvedja. In Leskovac, he will together with Minister for Mining and Energy PetarŠkundrić visit the Overhead Transmission line Niš-Leskovac-border with Former Yougoslav Republic of Macedonia as well as a Serbian-Bulgarian cooperation project for high school children. In Medvedja, Ambassador DEGERT will together with Minister for Public Administration and Local Self Government MilanMarković hand over the keys to 8 families and open an apartment complex, built under an EU funded programme supporting housing solutions for internally displaced persons, refugees and socially vulnerable families.

Statement by the Spokesperson of High Representative Catherine Ashton on the incident in Kosovo

The spokesperson of High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs andSecurity Policy/Vice President of the Commission Catherine Ashton issued a following statement:"EU High Representative Catherine Ashton condemns the tragic incident in Mitrovica, Kosovo in which at least one person died and several people were wounded. The HR Catherine Ashton sends her condolences to the families and friends of the victims. She calls on the Kosovo police, with support of EULEX, to conduct an investigation into the incident and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice. She conveyed this message to the Kosovo authorities."
