
The President of the European Council Herman VAN ROMPUY will visit Serbia on 5 July 2010 and meet with the President of Serbia Boris TADIĆ. This is the first official visit of President Van Rompuy to Belgrade since taking office in December 2009.

All IPA 2010 projects will directly benefit Serbia’s economic development, the European integration process and everyday lives of Serbian citizens. The European Union will provide 174 million euros for 28 new projects. Two billion euros have been invested in Serbia so far.

The Council decided on 14 June 2010 to unblock the ratification process of the Stabilisation and Association agreement (SAA) between the EU and Serbia. Recalling in the Council Conclusions that cooperation with the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) is an essential element of the SAA, Ministers agreed to submit the agreement to their respective parliaments for ratification, as well as to the European Parliament for its approval.

The Head of the European Union in Serbia, the ambassador Vinsent Dezer, president of the Governent of Vojvodina, Bojan Pajtić, the Minister of the Environmental Protection and spatial planning, and mayers of two municipalities, Sremska Mitrovica and Sabac, Šapca Branislav Nedimovic and Milos Milosevivc, have today visited Jarak- the main site for the solid waste disposal in Sremska Mitrovica and announced the start of the solid waste management project in Sremska Mitrovica and Sabac.The project value total some 11 million euros, 7.3 funded by the European Union while Sremska Mitrovica and Sabac set aside 2.3 million euros and the Fund for Environmental Protection participated with 87 million dinars.

Ambassador Vincent Degert Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Serbia will visit Vranje and Bujanovac on 19 July. In Vranje he will together with Božidar Djelic, Deputy Prime Minister for EU Integration and Minister of Science and Technological Development, sign a contribution agreement of EUR 13.5 million for the programme entitled "European Partnership with Municipalities – PROGRES". In Bujanovac, Ambassador Degert and Deputy Prime Minister Djelic will meet with the Coordination Body and participate in a TV debate organised by JUGpress.

The European Union Baroque Orchestra (EUBO) will perform in Kolarac concert hall in Belgrade on the 16th of July, Friday and with its performance will open the Belgrade Summer Festival (BELEF). This is the first time that the orchestra composed of young musicians from 12 countries will come to Serbia, being the 35th European country they perform in since the foundation of the Orchestra 25 years ago. The EUBO is a Cultural Ambassador for the EU, enjoying the founding of the European Commission’s Culture Programme.
